Amira Haddad

Staff attorney, garnishment and collection defense

Amira defends collection lawsuits and stops wage garnishments, in English or Arabic.

Amira joined Clearway from a legal aid office, where she saw how often a collection lawsuit ends in a default judgment simply because nobody answered it.

She answers. She reads the collector's paperwork for the gaps, talks to their lawyers, and, when the debts are bigger than one lawsuit, files bankruptcy so the garnishment stops for good.

How I work

A garnishment notice feels final. It isn't. There are limits on how much can be taken, money that can't be touched at all, and deadlines to object that most people never hear about.

I want you to leave our first meeting knowing exactly what happens next week, and who's going to do it. Usually, it's me.
